Press Conference on the U 23 World Championship U23

A press conference on the Under 23 Rowing World Championship that will take place at Račice Sports Centre on 23 – 26 July 2009 was held in Prague on 14 July 2009. Representatives of the Organizing Committee and the Czech Rowing Association informed journalists about the preparations and program of the world championship that will be officially held as the world championship of this category for the fifth time this year.

The Czech racer Jitka Antošová, who already holds two gold medals and a silver medal (together with Gabriela Vařeková in double sculls) from the U23 World Championship and is expected to get a medal in this year’s skiff again, was present at the conference.

A record number of 1,200 competitors from 56 countries have registered. The course will officially open for practice on Sunday, 19th July, but some teams (New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Czech Republic) have been practicing there since 13th July.

The Accreditation Centre will also open on Sunday, 19th July.

This year’s U23 World Championship is held under the auspice of the governor of the Ústí nad Labem Region, Jana Vaňhová, and senator Alexandr Vondra.

Free admission on Thursday and Friday, admission fee of 50 CZK or family admission fee of 100 CZK on Saturday and on Sunday for finals.

People can watch each race on a large screen.

Czech Television will broadcast the semi-finals and finals on Saturday and Sunday on ČT 4 Sport.
